Maritime Education Project

Maritime UK Solent and the Solent LEP are working in partnership to establish a maritime education engagement project.

The project will support schools with maritime sector careers information and embed it into the curriculum. It will help the Solent-based maritime industry to develop meaningful and long-term relationships with education providers to support recruitment and development of a local talent pipeline.

Young people in year 8 will be targeted to help them see the importance and application of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects in maritime organisations; and help mitigate the dropping of STEM subjects when choosing GCSE options.

Who is involved?
  • Eight secondary schools Year 8
  • The Solent LEP's Careers Hub team
