Support for different sectors & industries

We are working hard to ensure we can provide support to all businesses in the region, no matter size or sector, which is why we have launched a variety of funding and support packages and continue to adapt and develop new provisions. We also appreciate that each sector will need specific support and guidance related to their sector. There is a range of support available for a variety of sectors, all in one place below:

Support Package For Innovative Firms Hit By Coronavirus: Government announcement made on 20 April

  • The Chancellor has announced a new £1.25bn coronavirus package to protect firms driving innovation in UK. The funding includes:
A £500 million Future Fund, to be delivered in partnership with the British Business Bank, which will launch in May and provide UK-based companies with between £125,000 and £5m from the government, with private investors at least matching the government commitment. These loans will convert to equity if not repaid. To be eligible, a business must be an unlisted UK registered company that has previously raised at least £250,000 in equity investment from third party investors in the last five years.
  • £750m of targeted support for the most R&D intensive small and medium size firms will be available through Innovate UK’s grants and loan scheme. This includes accelerating up to £200m and providing an additional £550m of grant and loan payments for existing Innovate UK customers, and £175,000 of support which will be offered to around 1,200 firms not currently in receipt of Innovate UK funding. First payments will be made by mid-May.
