Making Theatre Gaining Skills was devised to improve employment opportunities for young people by opening pathways to those that might otherwise be excluded from the Labour Market. They want to be part of a society where all young people can gain confidence and skills so that they can achieve their employment objectives, recognise their strengths and make a positive contribution.
The company aims to develop and deliver high quality training programmes for young people using a bespoke pop up theatre.
The company applied for BTG funding to help contribute towards the start-up costs of the business.
Hilary Strong, Director of Making Theatre Gaining Skills CIC, said:
We secured a Bridging the Gap grant in May last year and the investment proved to be critical at the point when we were setting up our new company. It allowed us to secure two full-time jobs and provide an essential breathing space between contracts. A year on, we are now busy providing employability training across the region and developing exciting plans for the future.
