Pie and Vinyl

Southsea

£6,000 Bridging the Gap Recipient - June 2013

Pie & Vinyl is an Independent Record Shop based in Southsea, specialising in new music released on vinyl; in addition, they are also a pie and mash emporium, serving traditional meals with a mix of modern recipes. Since opening in 2012, they have won Independent Record Shop of the Year, British Pie Week Shop of Distinction, and also featured in The Independent newspaper's 10 best Record Shops in the Country.

By the middle of 2013, the company had outgrown its current premises. When the retail unit next door to their established shop came onto the market, they were keen to acquire the lease and join the two premises together, providing more space to extend both their musical product range and the catering side of the business.

BTG funding was secured to contribute to the costs of renovating the new premises, in turn safeguarding four existing jobs and creating two new jobs.

Pie & Vinyl Director and Co-Owner Rob Litchfield said:

We are so thankful for the Solent LEP grant, and I think the BTG fund is great. It is very forward-thinking because it gives small businesses a chance. We are now twice the size which is fantastic, and it means we can put further growth plans in place.
