Maritime UK Solent is supporting Seawork’s first ever Careers Day on Thursday 23rd June 2022, encouraging local further education learners to come along to meet with businesses and to find out more about careers available in the commercial marine industry.
Maritime careers are high on the national agenda, with Careers Day at Seawork immediately following the launch of the Maritime Skills Commission's Skills for Green Jobs Position Paper.
Lorna Wagner, Programme Manager at Maritime UK Solent, said: "We've established Maritime UK Solent to promote and represent our world-class maritime cluster on an international stage.
"A key part of the long-term success of the maritime sector in our region is the development of a talent base for the next generation to thrive. Seawork is an ideal opportunity to bring together businesses and young people to showcase the wealth of career opportunities available and help shape the skills needed for the sector to continue to succeed."
Seawork is Europe’s leading commercial marine and workboat exhibition and is taking place at Mayflower Park in Southampton from 21 - 23 June 2022.
Exhibitors at Seawork will be able to talk directly to local young people aged between 16 and 19 about career paths in commercial marine, and training opportunities available; and follows the Further Education colleges who have not yet registered to bring learners along to the event, please contact Fay Reeve at FReeve@seawork.com
