The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has extended the deadline for you to have your say on the kind of place you want the Solent area to be in the future. The Solent Local Industrial Strategy is a major opportunity for the area to set out an ambitious future to bring forward sustainable growth and raise prosperity for all. The deadline to share your views with the LEP is now 17 May 2019.
To date we have received over 300 responses via the survey and through attendance at various events. But because we want to develop a strategy that will put the Solent on the path to a more prosperous future, we are keen to reflect the ideas and ambitions of as many of the diverse pool of residents and businesses in the area as possible.
Younger and older generations, the general public, private, academic and voluntary sectors across all areas of the Solent are all encouraged to share their views to help shape this important strategy, which we expect to submit to the UK Government this Autumn.
Key themes emerging from the survey responses received so far include the embracing of new technologies, the role of the coast in underpinning tourism in the region, the importance of our green credential, and maritime research and assets that can provide global leadership in the UK marine and maritime industry.

“The Solent performs a major role for the UK economy, so it’s vital we prepare ourselves for the next 30 years. The strategy will help us to do this.”
