We launch a new support service to help small and medium enterprises (SME's) through the Brexit transition.
Those seeking support will be matched with a specialist Brexit Transition Business Advisor and receive up to five hours of one-to-one support tailored to their business needs. Advisors will help businesses to identify critical issues resulting from Brexit and develop a detailed and flexible action plan to respond. Specialist Advisors will also work with Solent small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to review progress in implementing their plans, identify any further support needed and enable access to wider support available for the Solent area.
For those seeking more general support, a series of webinars will be held throughout January (go to our calendar for more details) to provide information on key areas including customs, tax and supply chains.
The new service launched today in recognition of the transition period ending on 31 December; support will be available throughout the working days of the Christmas and New Year period.
Brian Johnson, our Chair, said: “It’s vital that businesses take action now to prepare, regardless of the outcome of the Brexit trade deal negotiations. Putting this help in place is crucial at a time when businesses have already faced a huge number of changes and challenges due to Covid-19. Ensuring that we provide Solent businesses the support they need to secure a successful Brexit transition is vital for individual businesses and for the wider Solent economy."

Alongside the new support programme, we have put in place a range of online support for businesses to access at any time through our online Brexit Transition and Overseas Trade Hub. This includes access to a range of information and support available, alongside a Solent Brexit Transition Toolkit which allows companies to create a bespoke report on their current position and benchmark themselves against others in their industry, as well as providing tailored information on what actions to take to access support in the areas it is most required.
