The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is seeking prominent business leaders to join its Board of Directors.
The Solent LEP board takes responsibility for shaping economic strategy in the region, including the development of the Strategic Economic Plan and Local Industrial Strategy for the area.
Alongside strategy development, the LEP is a major capital investor in the Solent economy and is delivering a growth programme valued at over £1.8bn supported by a £244m LEP investment, working with HM Government to create new jobs and enable new homes to be built in the Solent.
The LEP Board is made up of business, education and local authority Directors and was the first LEP in the country to have a fully-elected board.
Gary Jeffries, Chairman of the Solent LEP said:
“Being a Business Director for the LEP is highly rewarding experience and provides business leaders with the opportunity to power growth in our region. Working in partnership with local stakeholders and Government, we come together to make sure we provide the right environment for all businesses to thrive. I am very proud of the projects we have delivered already recent years but there is still more to do. That is why we need more senior business leaders to roll up their sleeves and get on board.
Half of our Business Directors are now drawn from our SME community and, in order to ensure balance, we are keen to secure Director applications from some of our larger organisations in the Solent. In addition, following the recent departure of two female directors from our Board, we are also very keen to encourage applications from senior female business leaders in the Solent area to fill the current vacancies."
In order to complement the existing balance of expertise and experience on the LEP Board, the LEP would, in particular, welcome applications from Southampton based business leaders, as well as those with demonstrable expertise and knowledge of corporate governance (including legal expertise), visitor economy and destination marketing, large-scale investment finance and strategic infrastructure enabling nationally significant connectivity.
The Solent LEP is also opening the application process for businesses to become members of the Solent LEP.
Details on how to apply for membership or a role as a Director, or register your interest in future LEP Board roles, are available until Tuesday 31st July 2018. More information can be found by clicking on the following links:
